Situated on 7.75 acres in Napa Valley, this iconic property works as a real-time sundial. The eco-inspired Sundial House, which entered the market at $5 million, features a passive solar system and reclaimed wood in its design.

A work of architectural art in itself, the Sundial House is a circular home that takes advantage of its location aligned with the southern sky and the hemisphere. In addition to working as a real-time sundial, the property can track both the summer and winter solstice as well as solar noon. Alluding to all of nature’s elements (earth, wind, fire and water) in its design, it’s no wonder this home has been featured in GATEWAY Magazine’s “The Perfect 10,” Sunset Magazine’s “Building Tomorrow’s Home,” the book “Living Homes,” as well as the Home and Garden channel.

Another impressive feature of the property is the fountain wall at the home’s entrance, also known as the “Crying Wall.” Inside, an open chef’s kitchen overlooks the sunken living room which contains a 72" fireplace, a hidden flat screen, and a surround sound system. True to form for Napa Valley, the state-of-the-art kitchen also features a built-in wine station, along with energy-efficient appliances, dual dishwashers, a built-in coffee maker, a wine fridge and a kitchen island. The kitchen cabinets and marble countertops are curved to go along with the overall circular shape of the 3,000-square-foot home.

Natural building materials, such as stone, can be found throughout the walls, while the winding staircases are lined with glass hand railings. The ceilings are highlighted with reclaimed teak wood. There are also 1,700 square feet worth of outdoor patio and entertaining space, all of which are easily accessible from each room in the house. This outdoor space is especially stunning as it showcases panoramic views of the Napa Carneros region, San Francisco Bay and Mount Tamalpais.
