Thoughtful home design helps family see the wonder in nature
It began as a meadow on the edge of a forest inside a protected landscape area. Buildings dating to the 1970s dotted the area. Now, the land hosts a chic, modern home with a rooftop meadow. This is House for a Photographer by ValArch Ateliér.
Rather than disrupting the area’s existing meadow, the design continues it. The meadow now flows to the roof of the house. House for a Photographer’s custom design fits into the natural landscape rather than destroying it. The house itself flows with the terrain’s rolling hills and curves.
The ground floor includes an entrance area, a kitchen, a dining room and a living room. This space also leads to the front of the home’s namesake photography studio. Half of the attic above is dedicated to the studio, which opens to the rooftop meadow. The other half is for the children of the home. Their space looks out onto the Wallachian hills beyond the house, an incredible natural landscape designed to fuel the imagination and give flight to dreams of tomorrow.
A second wing leads to the garden, covered by the rooftop meadow. This wing also includes a bathroom and a bedroom. Meanwhile, a small courtyard in the nearby meadow provides a spot for tranquility. Nature thrives in the surrounding landscape, serving not only as a stunning backdrop for the home but as a living part of the world around it. Natural materials such as wood and wood fiber insulation further support the home’s nature connection.
You can find this amazing home in the Czech Republic, and hopefully soon, you will find designs like this everywhere. ValArch Ateliér’s House for a Photographer represents how design can respect and honor the natural world. Further, the home emphasizes how beautiful it can be to pay homage to Mother Nature.
